STORYLINE : Ministry of Health launched the activities of the Pink October month for early detection of breast cancer at its headquarters in Ramallah, amid many activities from health institutions to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Figures provided by the Ministry of Health confirmed that the death rate and the number of infections last year increased compared to the previous year. It stressed the need to increase awareness about early detection, and promised more training for its crews and the provision of additional x-ray machines, while civil society organizations saw the need to provide an accompaniment system for women who discover disease to speed up treatment. Number of cases recorded last year was 934, at a rate of 18.5 cases per 100,000 of the total population, including 540 cases in the West Bank, representing 15.8% of the total cases, and 394 cases in the Gaza Strip, representing 19.2%. The death rate resulting from breast cancer in the West Bank was 11.7. % of all cancer deaths. Number of women who benefited from the free service provided by the Ministry for mammograms in the northern governorates was about 7,355 cases during the year 2022, of which 3,105 abnormal cases were diagnosed. Al-Kaila stressed the necessity of monthly self-examination for all women aged 20 years and over, and conducting the examination. Radiation from the age of 40 years. Footage by /APA
