STORYLINE

Hospitals in the Palestinian Territories of the West Bank and Gaza are being overwhelmed by a second wave of COVID-19, with hospitals full and the country unable to secure vaccines to protect its population

Even as Israel heads toward herd immunity, the Gaza Strip is seeing coronavirus infections reach record heights, with only enough vaccines for some two percent of the population.

More than 750,000 children live in Gaza. The humanitarian community is gravely concerned about the future of this generation whose health needs are not being met. The decline in infant mortality, which has occurred steadily over recent decades, has stalled in the last few years.
