RESTRICTION SUMMARY: APAwire CLIENTS ONLY SHOTLIST: APAwire - APAwire CLIENTS ONLY, Gaza - 30 August 2022. Palestinians take part in a protest in solidarity with prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails, in front of Red Cross office, in Gaza city 01.SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Representative of the Islamic Jihad Movement in the Prisoners Committee of the National and Islamic Forces, Yasser Mizher 02.SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Spokesperson for the Martyrs and Prisoners Commission, Nashat Al-Wahidiah STORYLINE: More than 4500 Palestinian freedom fighters incarcerated in Israel began a series of measures to protest steps by the Israel Prison Services (IPS) that affect their daily life in the prisons, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS). The prisoners’ committee, which represents all the factions, has decided to embark on the protest steps after the IPS reneged on understandings reached with the prisoners in March and told freedom fighters serving life terms that it is going to start making life more difficult for them by constantly changing their rooms and sections, and transferring them between prisons. The PPS said this measure is mainly what prompted the prisoners to resume their protest steps because it affects the stability of the prisoner, particularly since the long-term prisoners are the most influential ones and the organizers of life in the prisons. There are currently 4500 Palestinian freedom fighters incarcerated in Israeli jails, including 31 women, 175 minors, and 700 held in administrative detention. Footage by /APA
