After clearing the rubble by himself, Hmeid began recycling the wooden materials and using mud instead of cement to construct a shelter intended to protect his family from the approaching winter cold. His efforts come amid the continuing blockade, border crossing closures and restrictions preventing the entry of construction materials into the Gaza Strip, leaving families facing difficulties rebuilding their homes and securing adequate shelter.
