SOUNDBITES: 0.1 SOUNDBITE (in Arabic) Baraa Faisal al-Damaj, Son of owner of demolished shop STORYLINE: Israeli army bulldozers began demolishing 26 commercial, industrial and agricultural structures in the al-Badia roundabout area on the eastern outskirts of Jenin. Israeli forces closed the bypass road leading to the area and deployed military vehicles, restricting Palestinian traffic, while six bulldozers carried out the demolitions. Owners and residents removed equipment and belongings before the structures were demolished. The demolitions were carried out on the grounds of construction without permits, although the structures stand on privately owned land with official registration deeds. Around 150 families depend on work at the affected businesses for their livelihoods. About 40 structures in the area had received demolition notices around 10 days earlier.
