STORYLINE: A Palestinian man was killed late Tuesday night by Israeli soldiers near the West Bank city of Ramallah, said Palestinian medics and eyewitnesses. In a short press statement, the Palestinian Health Ministry said that a 39-year-old man from the village of Beit Ur west of Ramallah was shot dead by Israeli soldiers at an Israeli army roadblock near the city. Eyewitnesses said that the soldiers opened fire directly at the Palestinian man at an Israeli army roadblock in the outskirts of the city and prevented local ambulances from reaching him. They added that the Israeli soldiers erected the roadblock to check Palestinian workers returning from Israel to their homes in the West Bank. The Israeli army made no immediate comment on the incident. Meanwhile, Palestinian social media activists published short video clips showing the body of the Palestinian man on the ground and covered with blood. According to a recent report of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Human Affairs in the Palestinian territories, Israel has killed 55 Palestinians in the West Bank only since the beginning of this year.
