STORYLINE: Kayed Fasfous, from Dora town in the south of the West Bank, has been on hunger strike for 49 days. Fasfous was taken to hospital on Thursday following deterioration on his health. Some 40 Palestinian administrative detainees went on hunger strike since the start of the year to protest their detention, most have either won their freedom or had their imprisonment set to end at a specific date leading them to end their hunger strike. The policy of administrative detention allows Israeli authorities to extend the detention of a Palestinian prisoner without charge or trial. There are around 5,300 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, including 520 administrative detainees, according to institutions concerned with prisoners’ affairs. Footage by /APAwire
