STORYLINE: A young Palestinian man was killed early on Thursday by Israeli soldiers near the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank, said the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The man, was killed after being shot by Israeli soldiers in the village of Beitin, close to the Israeli army checkpoint of Beit El, said the health ministry in a short statement. The Palestinian Health Ministry said since early January, more than 85 Palestinians have been killed and more than 1,500 others arrested during the Israeli army raids, mainly in the northern West Bank. Israel occupied the West Bank in 1967. Today, about three million Palestinians live there, and roughly 475,000 Israelis reside in settlements that the international community considers illegal.
