Suleiman Jaafreh, an activist in the defense of land committee said that settlers came to the land in an attempt to take it over as landowners and residents were working on reclaiming the land to protect it from the settlers. He said the residents and settlers got into a scuffle when soldiers intervened to protect the settlers and attacked the residents.
