But crab season offers a respite – and rare period of profit – to Gaza’s beleaguered fishing families. A sharp increase in poverty since the siege was imposed means that fewer families can afford to put fish on the dinner table – half of Gaza’s population of 2 million is moderately to severely food insecure.
