Palestinian livestock and poultry farmers inspect their sheep, chickens and quail at a farm in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City on September 29, 2026, amid shortages of animal feed and resources needed for their care. The animals are being cared for as part of an initiative by the Joud Foundation to support Palestinian breeders, preserve remaining livestock and help protect local species and breeds, while sustaining food sources and livelihoods amid widespread war-related damage to Gaza’s livestock sector.
