Palestinian youths light candles and place them on Palestinian and Egyptian flags on August 8, 2012, in the West Bank city of Ramallah, in memory of the 16 Egyptian soldiers who were killed in a militant ambush on August 5, at a checkpoint near the Karm Abu Salem border crossing on the Egypt-Israel border. Egypt's President Mohamed Morsi sacked his spy chief and two generals on August 8, after the ambush on the Egyptian soldiers prompted the military to launch unprecedented air strikes on militants in the Sinai.
