A fragile truce appeared to be taking hold Tuesday between Israel and Palestinian militias in the Gaza Strip, ending four days of fierce tit-for-tat violence which left 25 Palestinians dead and saw close to 200 rockets rain down on Israel. But, despite the confirmation from one of the main Palestinian groups that the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire had come into effect before dawn, militants in the salient nonetheless launched six rockets and mortars at southern Israel.
