Palestinians shout slogans during a rally supporting a bid for Palestinian statehood recognition at the U.N., at a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) food distribution center in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip September 12, 2011. A diplomatic showdown looms at the United Nations this month when Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is expected to seek an upgrade of the Palestinians' U.N. status as they hope to establish a state in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli-occupied West Bank with Arab East Jerusalem as their capital.
