Israeli police check Palestinian women's IDs and bags outside the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the Old City of Jerusalem on April 16, 2014. Dozens of Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli police that erupted when Jerusalem's flashpoint Al-Aqsa mosque compound was opened to Jewish visitors. Palestinians threw "stones and firecrackers" at police when they opened the walled compound's gates and Israeli police responded with stun grenades and rubber-coated bullets, they closed the complex to the Jewish visitors after a small number had toured the site.
