SOUNDBITES: 0.1 SOUNDBITE (in Arabic) Hani Dababesh 0.2 SOUNDBITE (in Arabic) Bassem Miqdad STORYLINE: Palestinian employees dismissed by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) continued their sit-in at an agency training center in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, on November 5, 2026, demanding reinstatement and the restoration of their employment rights. The protest, which began on October 25, follows the dismissal of approximately 70 employees in June 2026. UNRWA said the dismissals were based on an assessment of security risks affecting its operations in Gaza, stressing that the decision was not disciplinary and did not constitute confirmation of allegations against the employees. The protesting workers, however, say they were dismissed without an investigation. The Arab Staff Union in Gaza has announced its support for the sit-in.
