Vasilyok automatic mortar crews of Zapad Group of Forces inflict fire defeat on enemy in Kupyansk direction. STORYLINE: The intelligence of the Zapad Group of Forces received data on the build-up of enemy forces in Kupyansk direction. In this case, the servicemen used an 82mm Vasilyok automatic mortar as means of firing at AFU strongholds. One of the most effective ways of working is the 'roving mortar'. It means a quick change of firing position. The speed and accuracy of hitting target is achieved by fire control through the use of an unmanned aerial vehicle. Mortar crews are travelling in cross-country vehicles, which allows them to quickly change their firing position, choosing the most suitable places to strike and evade possible retaliatory fire from the enemy, who are hunting for Russian firepower. Vasilyok can fire up to 120 mines per minute and can fire on a strafing trajectory. Even with automatic fire, the mortar has high accuracy. Moreover, the artillery crews conduct counterbattery warfare, destroying hostile mortar and cannon crews. With automatic fire, the artillerymen of the Zapad Group of Forces cover the advance of motorised rifle units on a daily basis, firing at the AFU open fire positions. One of the advantages of Vasilyok mortar is its versatility. It can be fired in a variety of ways. The 2B9 can be used as a conventional mortar, in which case it is loaded from the muzzle. But the main difference of the gun is its ability to fire like a normal cannon with minimal and even negative elevation angle. Guided by experienced commanders, the personnel provide high level of target neutralisation, and safety of their units within the 'roving mortar' tactic.
