A Palestinian pediatrician, Khaled Al-Saidani, 50 years old, has been working in the pediatric care department at Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital for 23 years in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip. At the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza, Al-Saidani was injured in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the houses neighboring his home in the Al-Bureij refugee camp. He suffered an injury to his right foot, which led to amputation. Currently, he is suffering from arterial blockage in his left foot. Despite this, he continues to perform his medical duties in service of Palestinian children, treating patients and wounded children.
