Israeli soldiers close the Bab al-Zawiya area to ensure settlers’ entry into one of the old buildings under the pretext that it is a Jewish shrine, in the West Bank city of Hebron. STORYLINE: Israeli forces closed the Bab al-Zawiya area and Beersheba Street leading to the center of Hebron, to ensure that settlers could storm an archaeological site, which is an old Palestinian house. At these times every year, the city witnesses a major escalation in settlers’ incursions into archaeological and religious sites, accompanied by measures and closures imposed by the Israeli occupation forces to secure this. Israeli and Palestinian estimates indicate that there are about 650,000 Israeli settlers in the West Bank settlements, including occupied Jerusalem, residing in 164 settlements and 124 settlement outposts.
