Members of the Palestine Scholars Association participate in a protest to express their solidarity with Jerusalem in Gaza. 0.1 SOUNDBITE (in Arabic) Abd al-Hadi al-Agha, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in Gaza STORYLINE: Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh warned on Sunday against a planned march by right-wing Israeli extremists through East Jerusalem, saying that the Palestinian Islamist group would use "all possibilities" to confront it. The so-called 'flag march' is due to take place next week to mark Jerusalem Day, an Israeli celebration which marks the anniversary of Israel's illegal occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967. The route, provisionally approved by Israeli authorities, allows marchers to enter the Old City through the Damascus Gate, heavily used by Palestinians, en route to the Western Wall, which adjoins the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The flag march celebrates Israel's capture of the Old City in the 1967 Middle East war. Israel deems all of Jerusalem its capital - a status not recognised internationally. The Palestinians want to establish their own capital in the city. Weeks of clashes in East Jerusalem last year, including in the Al-Aqsa compound, helped ignite a war in Gaza last May that killed at least 250 Palestinians and 13 people in Israel.
