Israeli authorities had refused to repatriate Abu Kamil to her family in the Gaza Strip, under the pretext of "holding an Israeli identity card." The 46-year-old Abu Kamil was prevented from returning to Gaza through the Beit Hanoun checkpoint. During her detention, Abu Kamil was prevented from seeing her children. The year she was arrested, her youngest child was eight-months-old, and the eldest, Amira, was 11 years old. Israeli authorities arrested Abu Kamil on Oct. 18, 2015, upon leaving Gaza through the Beit Hanoun-Erez border crossing, and sentenced her on Oct. 20, 2018, to six years behind bars. Nisreen hails from the city of Haifa in Israel, but she is married to a Palestinian from Gaza. According to her family, an Israeli court has charged Abu Kamil with accusations including photographing Haifa port for espionage. Footage by APAwire
