STORYLINE: Al Azhar University - Gaza (AUG) was founded 1991, has steadily provided successive generations with solid education, and has fundamentally contributed to achieve the Palestinian dream of establishing a Palestinian national university able to fulfill the ambitions and dreams of the Palestinian upcoming generations, and to help them pursue their higher studies under the supervision of highly qualified Palestinian cadres. Thousands of Palestinian students have joined AUG, pursuing studies in different academic fields, and acquiring the Palestinian values to help them take part in the construction of their own state. AUG has currently around 16,000 undergraduate students in twelve faculties (Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Science, Engineering and Information Technology, Applied Medical Sciences, Agriculture and Environment, Education, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Arts and Human Sciences, Law, and Sharia). Moreover, AUG comprises educational centers which meet the needs of the Palestinian community and help its youth majoring in diverse and fruitful fields of post-graduate knowledge. The University has also established postgraduate study programs towards a Master's degree in Pharmacy, Arts, Mediterranean Studies, Law, Education, Agriculture, Water Sciences and Environment, Statistics, Accounting, Business Administration, Economic, Political Sciences, Chemistry, Biology ,Mathematics and IT Computing and Information System as well as a PhD's degree in Chemistry. AUG seeks to achieve excellence in higher education and scientific research at national, regional and international levels. Supported by its mission to positively contribute to the advancement of Palestine, AUG prepares distinctive students and graduates who are capable of taking charge and leading the future of Palestine in order to achieve the Palestinian dream of liberty, independence and state building.
