Al-Musaharati is an old profession on its way to extinction as people nowadays use the alarm clock. During Ramadan, observant Muslims fast from dawn until dusk. The meal before sunrise is known as the 'Sohour.
Despite the march of modern technology, Asaliyah and Al-Searsi continue to beat the drum for the age-old traditions of Ramadan in Palestine.
Although modern technology can now be relied upon to alert worshippers, many Palestinian communities continue to adhere to the time-honored ways.
