STORYLINE Despite opposition from Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union calls for an end to the normalization of relations with the Tel Aviv regime.
The efforts of the Speakers and Representatives of the Parliaments of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to refrain from including the cessation of the normalization of relations with the regime of Israel in the final declaration of the the Arab Parliamentary Union (AIPU) finally led to nothing.
The chairman of the 29th session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, head of the Jordanian parliament Atef al-Tarawneh opposed the request of the Egyptian, Emirati and Saudi representatives warning them that the Arab nations are against the normalization of relations with Tel Aviv. According to him, the UIPA has only to evade the demand of the Arab people.
The Syrian, Lebanese and Palestinian delegations also underscored the end of any normalization of relations with the Israeli regime.
The statement states in its thirteenth article: "One of the most important steps to support the Palestinian brothers is to put an end to all efforts to normalize relations with the regime of Israel, so we call for a firm stand for to put the impasse in all the ways that lead to it ".
