Members of the Samaritan sect pray atop Mount Gerizim near the West Bank city of Nablus, after sunrise on 28 June 2015, as they celebrate the Shavuot festival, marking the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai seven weeks after the exodus of the Jewish people from Egypt. The Samaritan religion descended from the ancient Israelite tribes of Menashe and Efraim and the community numbers today less than 700 people, half of who live on Mount Grizim in the West Bank and the other half in Holon, next to Tel Aviv, Israel. Samaritans recite prayers in ancient Hebrew using a Torah scoll. Photo by Ahmad Talat
