Israeli soldiers stand guard as Christians Orthodox take part in Easter "Holy Fire" celebrations on the eve of Easter Sunday on April 23, 2011, outside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, built over the sites where Christians believe Christ was crucified and buried in Israeli annexed east Jerusalem's Old City. Tens of thousands of Christian pilgrims from Eastern churches converged on the Holy City to take part in the Easter "Holy Fire" vigil in which the "miracle" light from Jesus' tomb is shared by candles to the crowd.
