An Israeli border policemen clash with Palestinian and left-wing Israeli activists during a protest on agricultural land in the southern West Bank village of Safaa, near Hebron on 27 June 2009. Israeli security forces have detained 22 pro-Palestinian Israeli activists as they dispersed a protest against settlements in the occupied West Bank. Dozens of activists regularly accompany three Palestinian families to the area in order to deter hardline settlers from the nearby Beit Ein settlement from attacking them while they tend their fields.
