A Palestinian worker walks past the rubble of Al-Haddad tile factory in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip on April 30, 2009, a day before World Labour Day (May Day). At least 10 workers lost their jobs when the factory was destroyed during the Gaza war, according to co-owner Jihad al-Haddad. The December-January Israeli offensive in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip killed some 1,300 Palestinians according to Palestinian authorities and left parts of the impoverished territory in ruins.
