Palestinians take part in a traditional parade in the streets of the West Bank city of Ramallah on March 21, 2009 to celebrate Jerusalem's designation as the 2009 'capital of Arab culture'. Celebrations in the West Bank were held after Israel banned such activity in the disputed Holy City. The Palestinian Authority had organised cultural activities in annexed, mostly Arab east Jerusalem to celebrate the city's proclamation as this year's capital of Arab culture after Damascus, which held the title in 2008.
