APAwire - APA wire CLIENTS ONLY, Gaza City- 16 February 2025. A view of the destruction in the Pasha Palace as a result of previous Israeli airstrikes on the old city in the Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City, on February 16, 2025. It is the only remaining example of palaces in Gaza City. The structure of this palace dates back to the Mamluk era during the time of Al-Zahir Baybars (1260-1277 AD). This is evidenced by the emblem of Al-Zahir Baybars located at its main entrance, which is two facing lions. It was considered the seat of the city’s deputy in the Mamluk and Ottoman eras, and is now used as a museum.
