STORYLINE

Weather today is clear to partly cloudy and unseasonably very cold with a drop in temperature which approaches 6°C below the seasonal average, according to the Palestinian Meteorological Department (PMD).

Chance of frost is expected in most areas in the early morning, evening and night hours. Light to moderate northeasterly wind blows in the day, while light northerly to northeasterly wind blows in the night. Sea waves are low.

Temperature in the capital, Jerusalem, and Bethlehem is expected to reach a high of 7°C and a low of 1°C and in Ramallah and Hebron a high of 6°C and a low of 0°C. In Jericho, the Dead Sea, and the Jordan Valley temperature is expected to reach a high of 15°C and a low of 7°C, while it is expected to reach a high of 12°C and a low of 5°C in Gaza and the coastal areas.

Tuesday’s temperature is set to rise and approach 4°C below the seasonal average, paving the way to clear to partly cloudy and unseasonably very cold conditions, particularly in the mountains. Occasional rain showers along with isolated thunderstorms are expected in the night, gradually spreading to the center. Chance of frost is still expected in most areas in the early morning hours.

A low pressure is set to affect the region on Wednesday, causing temperature to drop and paving the way to partly cloudy to cloudy and unseasonably very cold conditions. Sporadic rain showers, which could be torrential, along with occasional thunderstorms and hail are expected, with the chance of rain tapering off towards the night. Strong wind will prevail.

Thursday’s temperature is set to rise, paving the way to partly cloudy to clear and unseasonably very cold conditions. The chance remains for sporadic light rain showers on some districts in the morning hours.

PMD warns people against frost formation in the early morning, evening and night hours of Monday and on the early morning hours of Tuesday, as well as of slippery roads.
