Palestinians and foreign supporters demonstrated close to the Tal Rumeida Jewish settlement checkpoint demanding freedom of movement in their town as all roads leading to or close to the Jewish setter homes are blocked making movement in the center of the town close to impossible. Under an accord with the Palestinian Authority in 1997, Israel withdrew from most of Hebron but kept troops around several enclaves in the city centre where 600 hardline settlers live under heavy army protection.
