Palestinians watch their national football team play a friendly match against Jordan at a coffee shop in Gaza city. The new stadium trembled as thousands of Palestinians cheered their national football team in its first-ever home match near Jerusalem today. The Palestinians still long for their own state and an end to the decades-old Israeli occupation, but football fans were nevertheless able to share a rare moment of national joy in the cool autumn night.
