RESTRICTION SUMMARY: APAwire CLIENTS ONLY SHOTLIST: APAwire - APAwire CLIENTS ONLY, Bureij – August 28, 2021. Palestinian plastic artists Mohammed Al-Hawajri and his wife Dina Matar set up an exhibition of their paintings on the roof of their house in Al-Bureij refugee camp. 0.1 SOUNDBITE (in Arabic) Dina Matar 0.2 SOUNDBITE (in Arabic) Mohammed Al-Hawajri STORYLINE: The two Palestinian artists say they are inspired their paintings by the life of the camp they were born and lived in. Al-Hawajri said that the actual artist is the one who overcomes the odds because this is the true artist's job. Visual artists, for example, face the difficulty of transferring their art pieces outside of the besieged strip. Another challenge is having access to working material which entirely depends on the help of those who manage to travel to and from Gaza. In a society struggling to survive, artists in Gaza do not enjoy a lot of attention. They are an isolated but living community that is worth exploring. Footage by / APAwire
