RESTRICTION SUMMARY: APAwire CLIENTS ONLY SHOTLIST: APAwire - APAwire CLIENTS ONLY, Gaza - 07 July 2021.Palestinian journalists take part in a protest against attacks on their colleagues in West Bank, in front of Red cross office 01-SOUDBITE: Journalist Yasser Abu Hein STORYLINE: Palestinian journalists never intended to become part of the news in the days after the killing of activist Nizar Banat, but the brutal treatment and the arrest of many of them at the hands of the Palestinian Authority security forces has forced them to call for international intervention and protection. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns targeted violence by Palestinian security forces against many covering the past week of protests against the murder of a well-known critic of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The authorities must not tolerate any violation of the freedom to inform, RSF said. While covering the demonstrations, which have been marked by clashes between protesters and security forces, many reports have been reported, threatened or chased. They say stones were thrown at them, teargas was fired at them and in some cases their equipment was destroyed. On 28 June, 50 issued a joint appeal to the United Nations on “take necessary and immediate measures to protect [them].” Footage by Ashraf Amra/ APAwire
