Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas speaks during a meeting of Palestinian leadership in the West Bank city of Ramallah on May 14, 2018. Abbas condemned Israeli "massacres" along the Gaza Strip border after Israeli forces killed 52 Palestinians during clashes and protests coinciding with the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem. Abbas, who declared three days of mourning, also said the US is no longer a mediator in the Middle East," adding the new embassy is tantamount to a new American settler outpost in Jerusalem.
